Ok guys, Gio here, about to give you the needed steps to go from 1-80 quickly and effectively. Lets start with some rules.

1. Vote twice a day, save your points, never spend em on "no lvl req. leveling items."
2. Once you hit the level the guide tells you to get to in a certain zone, drop all your quests there and move on.
3.Go to the trainer at the following levels: 6, 10, 15, 25, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80.
4. Be sure to run at all times, killing everything that holds experience. On your way to a quest location? Run there, killing all in your path! No mercy!
5. Download the addon Quest Helper or Carbonite, they put arrows on your screen pointing you to the location where all quest items/npcs are.

Ok, well there are the basic rules, now lets get to the guide. Following this guide will get you from 1-80 in about 1-7 days, depending on how much you play. Lets go.

LEVELS 1-10
Train in your starter area from levels 1-10, doing all quests available.
Dwarves and Gnomes: Dun Morogh
Night Elves: Teldrassil
Humans: Elwynn Forest
Draenei: Azuremyst Isle
LEVELS 10-20
At level 10, i like to go to Westfall, the quests are easy and the Deadmines quest gets you the xp you need fast. So head there. If you don't know how to get there from Kalimdor, please scroll down to the bottom of this guide.
LEVELS 20-30
Head east from Westfall to Duskwood, follow the path towards the east until you reach Darkshire, grab every quest you can, the quests here are very easy and provide plenty of xp, so you'll only be here for a couple hours then move on.
LEVELS 30-35
Now from levels 30-35 a lot of people go to Stranglethorn Vale, I would suggest you stay away from STV only because of all the damn horde. But if you would like to try it out, go ahead, just keep this window open because you'll be looking here for your other options. I personally go to Arathi Highlands, the quests are simple and there are plenty of em, so an easy 5 levels. But since we will be heading to Kalimdor for the remainder of levels 35-58, i would recommend going to Menethil Harbor and taking the boat to Dustwallow Marsh, then fly to Desolace, it'll be more convenient to get the traveling out of the way early.
LEVELS 35-45
We'll be heading to Dustwallow Marsh now, there are tons of quests here and usually no horde, so the questing will be nice and easy here. Be sure to grab every quest, I cannot stress this enough! It makes everything go much faster.
LEVELS 45-50
There are 3 options here. Here's a quick rundown.
Felwood: There are usually a few horde running around, and not many quests to do, but you do have the luxury of being very close to Winterspring, you'll need to go there once you hit level 50. You can always fly to Azshara for more quests.
Azshara: I don't see many people quest here, but I've heard some good things, and again you will be close to Winterspring and Felwood for more quests.
Searing Gorge: Just gotta love all the quests available here. Easy 45-50, I got up to 55 here actually.
LEVELS 50-58
There are many spots you can utilize to be ready to head into outlands.
Winterspring: Easy quests for good xp, if you go here you may find a horde or 2, but they usually don't get in your way. Grab all the quests in Everlook and go crazyy
(You'll have to head back to the Eastern Kingdom for the following spots, but it's worth it.)
Blasted Lands: I suggest finishing up at some other areas and getting as close to 58 as you can before coming here, there are very few quests, but the ones that are here provide plenty of xp.
Burning Steppes: My personal favorite! Tons of quests, no horde, fun environment. I have a blast leveling here. Maybe because i know every quest by heart... Hmmmm...
Western and Eastern Plaguelands: Tons of quests here but there might be some horde to fight off, either way the xp is good.
Un'Goro Crater: One of my favorites, there are usually some horde here, but in my experience i have never had troubles getting the quests done.
All are good spots, it's up to you.
LEVELS 58-65
Head to the blasted lands, from the flight master run to the dark portal. Before entering talk to the Draenei just outside of the portal, grab that quest, then run in and start your questing in Hellfire Peninsula. Grab every quest in Honor Hold and the Temple of Telhamat. Do them all, even if they're green.
LEVELS 65-68
Head west from Hellfire to Zangarmarsh. Start every quest in the Cenarion Refuge and Telredor. Get them done, they all go by really quickly, and the leveling here is fast.
LEVELS 68-70
Get a group of friends around your level or find a level 80 to help you. Head over to Nagrand and do The Ring Of Blood. It's an easy quest that will get you 2 levels fairly quickly.
LEVELS 70-75
Time for northrend. If you don't know how to get there scroll to the bottom of this post. Do everything available in the Borean Tundra. Grab every quest in Valiance keep and from there wander around grabbing everything, do all the quests in Coldarra as well. If you don't get to 75 here, move to Dragonblight for some leveling.
LEVELS 75-80
The final stretch! Head to Sholazar basin, there are tons of quests scattered all over the place, hit up each flight point location for quests then wander around and find more as you go. If you don't hit 80 here, fly to Storm Peaks for some final questing. Also, if you'd like to skip some questing, you can grab a level 80 friend or 2 and head to Zul'Drak to do the Amphitheatre quest chain. Fairly easy 2 levels.

There you have it, you're level 80. Now it's time to get geared, but we'll save that guide for another day. I'll be writing a lot more tutorials on profession leveling as well as gearing your 80, be on the lookout for them.
HOW TO GET FROM LOCATION "A" TO LOCATION "B"
Can't find your way to Kalimdor or The Eastern Kingdom? Don't know how to get to Northrend? Well I'll tell ya how!
From Kalimdor To The Eastern Kingdom: If you're a draenei, take the boat from Azuremyst Isle, Just southwest of the Exodar you will see the dock(a brown rectangle off the shore if you're looking at the map), that's where the boat goes. and head to Auberdine, once there go to the southern docks and take the boat to stormwind. If you're a Night Elf, take the portal in Darnassus(it's just behind the bank) then run up the ramp to the Flight Master. Land in Auberdine and go to the Docks, take the southern most boat and ride to Stormwind! There ya go!
From the Eastern Kingdom to Kalimdor: From any flight path in the Eastern Kingdom fly to Menethil Harbor, take the boat to Dustwallow Marsh and you're there!
Getting to Northrend: Head to the stormwind docks, take the furthest boat to the east. Land in Valiance Keep. Enjoy!

Thanks for reading! Feel free to post constructive criticism and Questions. Till next time!

-EDIT-
I edited the amount of time it would take to go from 1-80 after all the posts about it and fixed a few leveling zone suggestions.
-EDIT-
Fixed a few typos. Edited some leveling zone suggestions.
-EDIT-
Added the Ring of Blood and Amphitheater of Anguish to the guide.

I'm afraid some of the things in this guide are not quite right, and I would advise quite different things instead. Speaking of leveling an Alliance player, you should realize how outnumbered we are - especially on Sargeras - and that due to high rates we won't get much help from guildmates while we level.

Here are my corrections (note, that I emphasize on quick leveling with meeting as less Horde as possible):

LVL 35: Don't go to STV at all! Avoid this damned place till you get 80. Believe me, it's for the best.

LVL 45: Avoid Tanaris and especially Gadgetzan. That's why Un'Goro is also not the best choice. Also, author completely neglected The Hinterlands - very quiet and peaceful place. Good to pick up a few levels there.

LVL 60-62: move to Zangarmarsh and Terokkar Forest without hanging too much time in Hellfire. Leave Hellfire as soon as you get lvl 60 - there are plenty of Horde and Horde gankers in this place, so why do you need extra time and nerves spent? On 65 avoid Nagrand (you may try do the infamous Blood Ring quests, but for that bring a good escort of 3-4 80s, cause otherwise you will be butchered), and move to Blades' Edge area - there is no one there, it's always completely empty! From there you can go even to Shadowmoon Valley or Netherstorm - you'll find it even more empty and neglected than Blades' Edge... and get up to lvl 71 there quietly and peacefully.

On 70-71 go to Howling Fjord! No Borean Tundra's mainland - this place is swarming with Horde gankers, especially Valiance Keep! Avoid it at all costs, just believe me. In Fjord you'll get 2 to 3 levels and then move to southern coastal areas of Dragonblight and Tundra for Kalu'ak bases. Not only do they have easy and fun quests, but you will also get a very valuable reputation (that fishing pole is priceless). Kaluak quests will get you to 76. From there move to Grizzly Hills - also quite a nice place, and easy to level. Get 78-79 there and then finish leveling somewhere in Storm Peaks, most deserted zone in Northrend for sure. Avoid Sholazar and Zul'Drak, especially Argent base - it's a ganker's haven! Don't go there until you get Cold Weather Flying. Don't even think of it

Lol I thought the On-Goro Crater was for 45 and the monsters there are 51+ and theirs so many horde. Can you give me another suggestion rather than that.
At 45 I usually go to Mudsprocket in Dustwallow Marsh. Quests may be Greenish, don't remember but there's enough to get your levels up and you typically won't see a lot of Horde (though be careful because Mudsprocket is a neutral town).

Once you're 48-ish, go to Hinterlands and do quests until you're 50+. After that go to a capital city and look for the NPC that gives the Call to Arms: The Plaguelands quest (use WoWHead to see where the NPCs path in the cities). Go to Western Plaguelands and do the Cauldron quests (follows the quest Clearing the Way assuming you turned in the Call to Arms quest), those should get you to 58-60+ easily. Then you can go to Outlands and it's smooth sailing from there.

As a general tip, don't forget that your Class Quests scale with your level (they'll always be Yellow to you) and are an awesome way to level quickly. On my Shaman, I barely did any legitimate quests between 10 and 40. The bulk of it was doing my Totem quests.

If you are a draenei or a night elf, darkshore is a very good leveling zone for level 10-25. Especially if you are a night elf, you get 'act as messenger quests' from Darnassus to get here. Also this place has 3 quests once you hit 20 to turn in at ashenvale and begin questing there. Several gathering quests that give 1.5+ gold and tons of xp. Not a zone to miss out in those levels.
Additionally this area has a lot of fish to level fishing and cooking (and 2 cooking recipes from quests), plenty of beasts to skin and lot of mobs to grind

Nice guide but you forgot some really quite places to level without horde bothering you ^^
-southshore at 33 is a nice place with no gankers (the murloc chain quest gives a lot of xp)
-feralas at 43 to 48-49 is an awesome place to level also! (you can do feralas and hinterlands at this level)

Also you can go in the bg arathi basin and take the 2 quests "take four bases" "take five bases" and turn them in at refuge point, they will give you like 2 free levels :p

You can just about hit level 79 or 80 in Borean Tundra. I hit 79 as a Hunter in Borean Tundra yesterday, then went on to finish my leveling at Sholazar Basin. I could have finished in Borean, but I was tired of the landscape. xD

In a lot of these leveling places, you can stick to and do the quests, and you'll easily pass the level cap needed to go to other places. Or you can just keep moving to a different place. Just know that you can hit 80 easy without going to Tanaris or Stranglethorn Vale. But going to Borean Tundra helps a lot.

Level 1-12: your starting place
Level 12-20: westfall
Level 20-28: Redridge mountains
Level 28~: duskwood ( do some quests go get a level or 2)
once you're done with duskwood, learn you're spells, and go to Hillsbrad foothills..
try to be a around lvl 30 when you get here
Level 30-35:Hillsbrad Foothills
Level 35-40: Alterac: short quests, little ground, you can finish them real fast
** If you don't get 40, go to arathi and do some quests;
Level 40-45: Hinterlands: this land is just awesome, I don't get it why just a few ppl level here.. why? it has like 5 questst that finishes after you take them, or quests that you finish easily
get as much as high as you can in hinterlands, since searing gorge is boring
Level 45-50: Searing gorge: annoying quests really, if you don't know this terrain don't come here at all, it's a labyrinth ( choose plaguelands instead)
Level 48-52: Blasted Lands
Level 52-58: Blasted Lands+Burning Steppes
Level 58-64: Hellfire Peninsula: start with the quests from honor hold, do all the quests, get to the temple, do them all there too, then do the elite-giant quest also, and that elite bird(if he's spawned)
If you have a main char, use him to boost you through Hellfire ramparts(if you have quest also), it gives good xp and some items from where to choose.
Level 64-69: Nagrand time! do the elite quest-chain, with this you'll get to 68 or 69 maybe even 70.
Level 68+: Borean Tundra or Howling Fjord(I always do Borean Tundra)
Start at Valiance Keep, until you get the quests to the mist-beach, when you do, finish all quests there.
once you're done, head back to valiance keep, and finish up there too, also outside, near the mine.
now you should be level 72, head to coldarra: (finish the quests from amber's ledge first) and do some quests (finish all if you can)
you should be level 74 now.
Head to Dalaran, make it your home, and head to Grizzly Hills: (CAREFUL! don't take the quest from the librarian only when you're finished!)
do the other quests, until you get level 76 at least
Once when you're 76, you can do the librarian's quest, take the elite-chain-quest from the sewers, and go to the amphitheater, in zul'drak.
once when you're finished with these quests, you should be level 78-79
do some quests in zul'drak, storm peaks or icecrown.
tips: you can finish now the chain-quest of Sons of Hodir in Storm Peaks
- You can do the long chain quest in Icecrown, which leads to the daily quest for honor(Search for Judgement day comes, starting quest to this chain.. search on the topic for this, there is a detailed post)

this leveling guide is much faster then going to kalimdor, and i hit level 80 in most 10 hours with it, with any character

Which realm was this written for?
On Deathwing, from level 35-55 i had SO much trouble from the Horde as Alliance everywhere I went. And I was following this guide. However now it seems smooth cruising, havent really seen many Horde but I'm level 60 now so yeah.

Pretty much the best place was Burning Steppes. Seems like a bit of grinding but before you know it you grab quite a few levels.

Thanks anyway, and for the repliers inputs too

ok so im new to the world of warcraft deal and just got lv 50 on here and im wondering, where the hell can i get new & better armour cause the one im wearing atm sucks like hell and where can i get the lv 40 riding skill, ive been looking everywhere for it and i cant find it and i keep asking people but they jsut ignore me, on ah btw can u tell me where the 60 one is as well as the 40, thnx =D itll be a lot of help
For gear, just do the quests and quest rewards will be enough to pull you through, its a little late to get a vote weapon since it'll be replaced in 10-20 levels so it's not worth it, you get your level 40 riding skill same place and as you got your level 20, depending on your race. Level 60 riding is gotten at Honor hold when you get there at level 58 or more.

Hi there. I'm rolling on Frostwold(x3) server and so far the quide has been a lot of help but it needs some changes for the lower rate server , although it is fairly acurate.

Also. For Draenei and for Night Elfs even - Bloodmist isle.
I went at lvl 11 and exited at lvl 24(I even left some quests) for about 2-3 hours.
U enter the island at lvl 11 right of the bat 3 easy quest. u are then lvl 14, enter the main village at lvl 14 and u have 18 quests to do. One fell swoop of the island and lvl 20 in no time.
I stayed a little bit longer cuz I like the zone.
